UNITED NATIONS, April 18 (OneWorld) - Though satisfied with the Sudanese decision to allow United Nations forces into Darfur, international civil society groups engaged in humanitarian efforts in the violence-wracked region say they wonder if Khartoum will keep its promises of cooperation with the world body.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has called for investigations into widespread sexual violence during attacks by Sudanese Government forces and allied militia in Darfur as well as the disappearance of over a dozen men allegedly at the hands of rebels there.

Britain's Court of Appeal has ruled that three Darfuris should be granted asylum on the grounds that it would be unduly harsh to remove them to "terrible conditions" in refugee squatter camps around Khartoum.

Southern Sudan has paid the highest price among countries affected by a meningitis epidemic this year, and now cholera cases have been on the rise. One Southern clinic has seen over 1,000 patients in less than one month.
