Sudan e Darfur
21.07.2006 L’uccisione di tre uomini nei pressi del campo di Zalinge in Darfur occidentale (Sudan) ha portato alla sospensione di tutte le attività umanitarie delle agenzie della Nazioni Unite nella zona a ridosso del confine con il Ciad. Lo ha riferito all'agenzia Misna l’Alto commissariato delle Nazioni Unite per i rifugiati (Acnur/Unhcr), precisando che l’uccisione dei tre dipendenti di una società idrica è solo l’ultimo di una serie di episodi violenti avvenuti negli ultimi giorni e che dimostra la grande insicurezza che ancora si registra nell’area. Intanto nei giorni scorsi, in occasione della conferenza dei donatori a Brussels, Amnesty International ha sollecitato il rafforzamento della Missione dell'Unione africana in Sudan (Amis), in modo che le sue truppe possano garantire un'effettiva protezione alla popolazione civile del Darfur. Nonostante la firma, a maggio, dell'Accordo di pace per il Darfur e la presenza, dal giugno 2004, dell'Amis, la crisi umanitaria nel Darfur resta catastrofica e gli abusi nei confronti della popolazione civile proseguono su scala massiccia.
