04.07.2008 La liberazione di Ingrid Betancourt e degli altri 14 ostaggi segna un trionfo per il governo Uribe che riesce anche a mettere in ombra le vicende poco limpide nelle quali è coinvolto. Il rischio però ora è che la difficile situazione della Colombia passi in secondo piano agli occhi della comunità internazionale. Proprio ieri a Bogotá è stato presentato il nuovo rapporto della 'Coalición Colombiana contra la Tortura' di cui Terre des Hommes (TdH) Italia fa parte. “Il rapporto – afferma TdH - evidenzia come la tortura, fisica e psicologica, sia una pratica sistematica e generalizzata e che lo stato colombiano, nonostante i tanti appelli delle istituzioni internazionali non sia ancora riuscito ad arrestare un fenomeno così esecrabile soprattutto per quel che riguarda gli atti di tortura perpetrati da suoi esponenti”. Insomma tanta soddisfazione e gioia per le liberazioni, ma c'è ancora tanto da fare. Elvira Corona

03.07.2008 Unimondo e la rete Oneworld si uniscono alla gioia della società civile internazionale per la liberazione di Ingrid Betancourt, sequestrata dalle Forze armate rivoluzionarie della Colombia (Farc) il 23 febbraio 2002, e di altre 14 persone - 11 colombiani e tre statunitensi - che erano stati catturati nel 2003. Rilanciando gli appelli di Amnesty International e di Human Rights Watch, Unimondo e Oneworld chiedono l'immediato rilascio senza condizioni di tutte le altre persone tenute in ostaggio.

06.03.2008 Sissiliike FARCin mukaan hallituksen joukkojen hyökkäys tuhosi mahdollisuudet panttivankien vapauttamiseen ja poliittisen ratkaisun löytämiseen Kolumbian konfliktiin. Hyökkäyksessä Ecuadorin puolelle kuoli FARCin kakkosjohtaja ja kuusitoista muuta sissiä.
