22.09.2006 Captive breeding of Tibetan antelope, also called the Chiru, may be difficult due to the inhospitable terrain and the need for large financial resources, the Power Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Nuwang Rinjin Joora, has said. The shahtoosh shawl, which provides livelihoods to a large number of people, is made from the hair of the Chiru due to which the animal now figures in the list of endangered species.

13.09.2006 Natur och Miljö ja WWF varoittavat pienimuotoisten ruoppausten aiheuttamien ympäristöongelmien karkaavan käsistä, jos ruoppauksia ei valvota nykyistä tarkemmin. Järjestöt esittivät tänään Helsingissä toimia ruoppausten vaikutusten kurissapitämiseksi. NoM ja WWF vaativat muun muassa, että ruoppauksista on tehtävä kattavat alueelliset suunnitelmat.

12.09.2006 WWF järjesti tänään yhdessä kahdeksantoista rannikolla sijaitsevan koulun kanssa kalastustempauksen kohdistaakseen Euroopan unionin kalastusministereiden huomion Euroopan merien huonoon tilaan ja erityisesti ylikalastukseen. Tempauksessa 650 oppilasta Kotkasta Kokkolaan onki lähirannallaan. Koululaiset myös allekirjoittivat vetoomuksen Itämeren turskien puolesta. Vetoomus luovutetaan ministeri Korkeaojalle lokakuussa.

06.09.2006 In a meeting on flash floods and dams, organized by Intercultural Resources in collaboration with South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People, experts said that mismanagement of large reservoirs in Indian rivers has created man made disasters in many states. The big dams that were expected to regulate floods have actually been responsible for the disastrous flash floods.

WWF:n tuottaman mainoksen tavoitteena on varmistaa, että loppumetreillä olevasta REACH-kemikaaliasetuksesta saadaan sellainen, joka suojelee ihmisiä ja luontoa vaarallisilta kemikaaleilta. Myös Suomessa eri yhteisöt, muun muassa Suomen lääkäriliitto, ovat antaneet tukensa tiukkaa REACH:ia vaativalle vetoomukselle.

L'obiettivo è sviluppare una sensibilità che possa portare ad operare scelte e stili di vita individuali e sociali di Eco-sostenibilità e di Eco-Giustizia. "Una giornata importante e profetica; invitiamo tutti gli aderenti del movimento a partecipare alle inziative che si svolgeranno a livello locale o, qual'ora non ve ne siano, a farsi promotori essi stessi di incontri, momenti di preghiera accanto alle proprie Diocesi, ad altri Movimenti e, in particolare, ai fratelli e alle sorelle delle altre Chiese Cristiane" - scrive Pax Christi.
